VOLUNTEERING
We need volunteers for 2-3 hours each day, preferably starting between 8:00 and 9:30 AM. Our goal is to have enough returning volunteers to help cover a large portion of the chores for the entire week so that we can dedicate more time to evaluation, working with, and making the rescue horses in our care adoptable.
Volunteer duties include, but are not limited to:
• Feeding hay and mashes,
• Administering medications and supplements as needed (which will be fully explained and described),
• Filling and occasionally cleaning water troughs,
• Picking up manure,
• Grooming our horses is always appreciated by the horses, and,
• There are other projects available to do on the clipboard in the grain room.
Evening feeding is also needed and is extremely easy if you cannot do mornings. The amount of volunteer time required varies depending on how many horses are in individual paddocks needing feeding and watering, as opposed to group feeding in the pastures with large bale deliveries.

If you would like to learn more and see how everything works before committing to volunteering, we encourage you to come and check it out. Volunteers will be provided with a fun and thorough orientation, including safety on the ranch. You will need to wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes and work gloves and bring drinking water and food/snacks.
It is pretty easy work; it’s quiet and peaceful, you get a bit of a workout, you can meet new friends, and, best of all, you get to spend time with the horses. For safety and liability reasons, please do not bring any dogs with you to the rescue. If you are interested, please call or text Melissa, our Volunteer Coordinator, at (775) 224-1735 to schedule an appointment for more information or with any questions. Thanks so much, and we look forward to seeing you at the rescue!
